Makeup Revolution is a brand that I’m coming to really enjoy lately, having recently delved into some of their products.
One of the things that I like about them is that the collaborate with influencers that aren’t necessarily the ones you see on the daily. I had heard about the amazing collab between Makeup Revolution and You Tuber Sophdoesnails where she had created a highlight palette and an eyeshadow palette. She has since added to that collection with another eyeshadow palette and some lipsticks.
I have already purchased and reviewed the highlighter palette, click here to read the full post (spoiler alert, I love it!) and this post is all about her first eyeshadow palette, the Soph X Ultra Shadows.
The packaging for Soph’s first release is this beautiful blush colour with cold lettering. The palette itself is plastic, comes with a good sized mirror and features 24 shades.
While the palette doesn’t have the names of the shadows printed on it, it does come with a sheet that features the names. I guess that you have to weigh up whether the names are important to you or whether you want to jam pack more shadows in the palette because the only way you’d get names printed here is to lose some colours. Personally I like more shades, but I get where people would want the shade names instead.
I was impressed by the quality of these shadows, especially for the price. The colour story in this Soph X palette is really quite lovely. It has a mix of mattes and shimmers that give you lots of flexibility.
My favourite matte colours are Pancakes to set the lid, Iced Coffee and Peaches for transition shades and Pumpkin and Rosewood to deepen the crease. My favourite shimmer shades are Grow Old and Copper Coin, but i also love Mixed Berries and Pine Tree for a gorgeous green.
You’ll see from the swatches below that the colours are very pigmented and they show up well on my medium to medium-deep skin tone.
For the look below I decided to really pick up the Pink Champagne and Mixed Berries colours for a gorgeous berry toned look, smoked out with Tiramisu, Peaches and Danger. I finished off the look with Doll Parts Liquid Lipstick from Jeffree Star. Please excuse the lighting, I took this shot in my bathroom lol. Hopefully you can see the tones here.
I was highly impressed with this Makeup Revolution Soph X palette. I bought mine from Beauty Bliss for $28 plus postage and it was worth every dollar. It’s a great palette and now that she has released another one, the Spice palette, I am very tempted to get that too!
