It’s no surprise to you that I love lipstick, but you may not know that I also absolutely love gorgeous packaging. When the two collide I am in heaven. Ladies and gentlemen, I introduce to you Winky Lux Lip Velour in Meow.
I hadn’t tried the brand before as it’s hadn’t been readily available in New Zealand, but I spied it on a recent shopping trip and snapped this beauty up. Retailing for NZ$29.95 (but I bought on sale for $19.95 woohoo!!) this brand is super accessible to the wallet.
Let’s talk about the packaging first. The box is a gorgeous floral pattern with metallic gold detailing. It’s one of those boxes that you don’t want to throw away (if you’re a makeup hoarder like me then you’re identifying with me right now and also have lots of pretty boxes that you can’t bear to part with).
The tube itself looks like a pill!! In a gorgeous gold and silver, white printing is overlaid as well as a pretty flower graphic motif adding a nice tactile feel as well as a stunning play on light with the matte print over the gold and silver. Note. the tube isn’t metallic, it is plastic – which probably helps the overall price department. I know if they came out with actual metallic packaging I’d be a goner.
Now, onto the product. The Winky Lux Lip Velours are matte lipsticks. Their consistency is creamy and smooth to apply and they go on matte, but not too matte if you know what I mean. They’re not ‘cracked lips’ matte – they are very wearable. They DO transfer, but not too much. If you have any Maybelline matte lipsticks, then this consistency compares very much to them.
I found it so easy to wear and only applied again after eating lunch and at the end of the day again.
The colour Meow is fricken gorgeous. It’s a beautiful deep pinky, dusky mauve. It has a nice depth to it than means you can wear it day to night. The tone is also that perfect balance between warm and cool so you can pretty much pair this with any eye colour.
Here are a couple of pics showing it applied, with no liner and a taupe eye look.
As you can tell, I’m impressed with this brand and product and look forward to trying more!
Also, Winky Lux is cruelty free and non-toxic #winning!
If you’d like to try, you can purchase from the Winky Lux website, Mecca, online from Beauty Bay or they are sold in Cosmic Corner retail and online in New Zealand.
