Like millions of others across the globe, I have been part of the liquid lipstick hysteria over the past year.
One of the brands that I’ve enjoyed lately is Gerard Cosmetics. Known for their iconic lip glosses and lipsticks, Gerard Cosmetics came out with the Hydra Matte Liquid Lipstick Range.
I bought six of the following colours that I thought may suit my medium/medium deep skintone:
- Everything Nice
- Iced Mocha
I’ve included swatches below and I’ll go into a bit more detail on each colour as well.
Cher – This is a perfect every day colour and is very close to Kat Von D Lolita. I wore this colour nearly every day for a week and that is saying something! It also is one of the most universally flattering colours I have seen on other people.
Ecstasy – A cool toned mauvey purple colour, it wasn’t quite what I was expecting. It pulls very mauve and cool toned on me so I have to work the rest of the makeup around it given my skin is very warm toned right now. As we go deeper into winter and I go a little more neutral in my undertone, it may be a bit easier to wear.
Serenity – This peachy nude colour is a collaboration between Gerard Cosmetics and the amazing Manny MUA. It’s hard to find such a lovely colour in a liquid lipstick that performs this well. I’m really glad I have this in my collection.
1995 – I’m a big fan of the iconic 1995 matte lipstick that Gerard Cosmetics launched with Jaclyn Hill. It’s exactly the same colour – a gorgeous ’90’s brown that still has a little bit depth to it so that it doesn’t flatten out and dull your look.
Everything Nice – a lighter more every day version of 1995, this is absolutely gorgeous. Everything Nice and Cher are my favourites. This colour suits everyone!
Iced Mocha – This is a greige that’s not too deep so it’s very wearable. I found that Lime Crime Cashmere was lighter, but pulled all of the colour out of my face. This doesn’t do that. It’s a gorgeous colour.
The wand is a standard doe foot applicator. It’s OK to use to apply – it’s not the most precise. My favourite wand is actually the LA Girl Cosmetics liquid lip wand – you can read my review here. Product does build up so be careful to wipe it away a little bit or you’ll have a great glob on your lips.
The formula is hands down my favourite liquid lip formulation. It’s super easy to wear. With that though is the understanding that this may not last as long as some others (and may transfer slightly on your cup or glass). Neither will it dry out your lips or clump. You can also re-apply without having to take all of it off first.
In my books this brand is great. The price point is so accessible and you can always get amazing specials that often include free worldwide shipping. Here is their website if you’d like to take a look.
If you haven’t tried them yet, give them a go. I think you’ll really enjoy them.
