In the world of highlighters at the moment, Elizabeth Arden isn’t a brand that you immediately think of. Some of you may remember their iconic Rose Gold Shimmer powder that was part of their Rose Gold Collection a few years ago. It looked beautiful and I tried to get it everywhere. I unfortunately missed on on that one, but was lucky enough to buy a later version – a white gold shimmer powder that is amazing (but that’s another story).
Well, they’ve done it again. Elizabethe Arden released this beautiful Gold Illumination highlighter as part of their Fall Golden Opulence Limited Edition Collection. Given that it’s summer here now, it goes to show how late to the party I was with this one. In fact, the store only had two left (one after I left).
Firstly, can I just talk about the packaging? Opulent is right! The box is ornate with gold foil and embossing. The packaging of the highlighter itself echoes the box packaging in black with gold swirls and of course, features the iconic red door that symbolises the Elizabeth Arden brand. Along with the palette you also receive a cute little brush with a gold ‘handle’ as well.
The highlighter is a tri-colour product which features a gold, a white gold and a deeper bronze colour. You can use them separately or swirled together.
Although the finger swatch above looks a little powdery, fear not, I’ve got some more swatches below that show just how beautiful and creamy this highlighter is.
On the left is the darker bronze colour, next is the centre white gold colour, third along is the gold and fourth is all of them mixed together.
The colours are all gorgeous. I’ve used the gold and white gold mixed together, just the gold and also all of them swirled. They all look amazing. They are smooth and pigmented, applying like butter. This is like putting gold on your cheeks!
As for longevity – this product does not move at all. At the end of your day all this golden goodness will still be picked up from space. In fact, after a particularly hot day at work with no air conditioning, this was still as fresh as when I applied it.
I think this product would suit a range of skin tones. I’m currently NC42 on the MAC scale as it’s summer here in New Zealand (I’m NC30 in winter) and it’s like it’s made for me.
If you happen to see this product in the shops I urge you to pick it up. You won’t regret it. My only regret is I didn’t buy the other one!!
