Makeup of the Day

It’s a beautiful summer here in Auckland so for work today I thought I would go for some neutral mattes in the crease (surprise surprise) and then a nice apricot shimmer on the lids – and then what the hell – let’s pile on the glow!

PrimerAustralis Primer, one of my trusty day to day primers. This is a hydrating gel-like consistency and the price is very affordable.

Foundation – I used a mix of LAGirl BB Cream (I love this stuff) and Dr Lewinn’s Anti-aging foundation in Tan. The BB Cream is very creamy and the foundation is a little tackier so the combo was a lovely consistency. Also, the BB Cream is very warm toned, while the foundation was more neutral so I ended up loving the colour as well!

Contour – I used the NYC bronzer in Metropolitan. It’s one of my favourites and the deeper warm toned colour suits my skin tone during these summer months.

BlushMAC Melba which is perhaps one of my all time favourites blushes. It’s a balance of peachy tones and pink so that it suits just about every makeup look. If anyone asks me what blush they should buy from Mac I always say Melba first.

Highlight – Laura Geller Gilded Honey. This is like putting liquid gold on your cheeks, especially if you apply with a wet brush. I didn’t today as I was going to work and wanted to keep it a little more daytime (well, daytime for me lol).

Setting – I dusted some Za Cosmetics 2in1 Foundation Powder all over my face and then – here’s where that glow comes in – I lightly dusted the ChiChi Bronzer in Tropical Island all over. This is a shimmery powder so it was LUMINOUS! It wasn’t Edward Cullen luminous, but you could definitely tell it was glowy and a bit more tropical.

Base: My trusty Lorac Cosmetics eye primer which I set with some of that Za Cosmetics 2in1 powder. It’s so finely milled that it’s fine to use on the eye and when you set your eye primer, nothing is going to move.

Shadows: In my crease I used my Meet Matte Nude palette from theBalm Cosmetics. It’s such a good staple palette. I used a mix of the two brown and the warm coral colour to create a graduated crease. Then I pulled out my Wet n Wild Vanity Palette and used the Apricot shimmer colour. I firstly sprayed my brush with MAC Fix+ to intensify the colour when it’s packed on. Another quick swish to blend the mattes in and voila!

Mascara: Jordana Best Lash – love this as a day to day mascara. It’s a good consistency and gives my lashes length and definition without clumping. And best of all it’s cheap!

Brows: With this heat I can’t do without my Anastasia Beverley Hills Dipbrow Pomade in Medium Brown. Then I set with Loreal Brow Artist Plumper. With this combo my brows do not move.

Lips: I tried a new product and have been raving about it on Instagram. It’s the City Color Creamy Lips in Mai Tai. The texture of this is amazing – like a cross between a gloss and a liquid lipstick. It’s so pigmented, and while it does transfer, it really does stay on for hours and hours. It has a finish that is like a matte with a touch of satin (hope that explanation helps lol).

Then, a quick spray of MAC Fix+ and jumped in the car and went to work.

Here’s a bigger pic of my goodies and also a pic that I featured on Instagram. It’s in different lighting so you can see that glow a little more clearly.
