Today I put my big girl pants on and braved the hordes for the Boxing Day Sales at Botany Shopping Mall. However, even though I was expecting big crowds, these were out of this world, with queues outside some shops.
Given we had the kids and a big mountain buggy, having walked from home, we decided to make our trip a quick one.
I ended up making only one purchase, but am super happy with my bargain. Revlon packs were on sale for 50% off.
Revlon is a brand that I don’t tend to gravitate towards, but when I think about it, I have quite a lot of their products. I have to say, the products I have tried (with only a couple of exceptions) have been good performers.
I selected the Revlon Combo Platinum Set which was reduced from $39.95 to $19.97 – a bargain!
In the pack we have:
Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm in 225 Sultry – a beautiful deep rose colour (but not too deep) matte lipstick that is just gorgeous and would suit many skin tones. I’ve heard amazing things about these and considering that they retail at $22.99 each, less than this whole pack, I’m super happy.
Revlon Super Lustrous Lipgloss in 260 Amber Rose – a lovely browny rose lipgloss that has a slight shimmer to it. it’s not sticky and is pretty pigmented, but not opaque. This would be amazing layered over any nude lipstick.
Revlon Ultra HD Lipstick in 875 Gladiolus – I thought this may be my one dud in the pack as it looked to be a very blue toned red and was not matte – two strikes against it for any reds that I wear. However, I was wrong about it. It’s so wearable, almost like a deep coral red and because it’s a very moisturising formulation, it’s an easy to wear pop of colour.
Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in 245 Smoky Rose – this is a Pearl formulation (like a mild frost lol) that is quite close to my natural lip colour. It pulls a little more brown than pink, but I really like it. It’s almost like a Jlo bronzy look. I want to now bronze, contour and highlight my face just to wear this lipstick.
I’ve included swatches on my skin as well as shown the product on my face below. Just a reminder, I am currently NC40 in Mac foundations, actually probably leaning more towards NC42 now, so keep that in mind when you look at the colours on me. I will say that I think these colours suit a wide range of skin tones though, not just my brown biscuit tones 🙂
The verdict? If you can, get yourself down to the shops to buy this set. It’s such good value and the products are lovely.
