I was intrigued to hear about the new foundation from MAC – a lightweight, but good coverage foundation with a high SPF.
MAC’s website describes it as “A foundation that delivers colour in an ultra-fluid, thin, elastic gel-serum formula.”
The packaging reviews aside, it sounded like something I’d like to try.
I made a trip to my local MAC store and was given a small sample (how cute is the packaging!?) to try. I’m quite light as we’re coming out of winter, so I was colourmatched to NC30.
It is a very lightweight consistency, but smooth and easy to apply.
I really wanted to like this foundation, but I’m afraid it’s just too lightweight for me. It applied more like a tinted moisturiser or a non-greasy BB cream, and even though I applied two layers in some areas you can still see my hyperpigmentation through it. In the pic below you’ll see that I applied only this foundation to my face. I have no concealer and I didn’t powder (and it appears I didn’t do a very good job of my brows). I did however prime my face with my trusty, everyday primer from Australis.
This foundation didn’t last the day. I found that it just wore off and by the afternoon I was bare faced (oh the horror).
So long story short, I won’t be purchasing this one. If you have lovely, blemish free skin this may work for you. I urge you to try a tester first and see if it’s for you.
